  • EAD question

I filed the applications for I-140, I 485, I-131 and I 765 end of Sep 03. the laywer received RFI end of Dec, 03. and submitted requested information end of Feb, 04. the laywer said it was not going to take that long since this case was already open, but I still don't hear anything about EAD and AP. I despratly need to get EAD ASAP. How long does it take to get EAD after submmiting information for RFI (open case)?
And what is the diff between interim EAD and the EAD I am waiting for? Can I get a job with interim EAD also?

    Thank you for help.

If you don't get an EAD (Employment Authorization Document) within 90 days from the filing date of your I-765 then, as I understand it you can visit the CIS office in person (with the CIS receipt for your I-765 filing) to ask for a temporary EAD <uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi...tm#apply>. After getting EAD (whether temporary or not), then you can get an SSN <www.ssa.gov/pubs/10002.html> which can take a couple of weeks. Then you can work without restriction. The only different, as far as I know, between temporary and permanent EAD is that the former has an expiration date.

    Good luck,
    Joe
