  • interim EAD / EAD renewal at local office

My EAD expires on May 7, 2004, and I have yet to send in another I-765. It looks like it's taking a lot longer than 3 months to get it approved, and I'm worried about this situation.

What is the process for getting an interim EAD? Can I get one now somehow?

I also heard that you can renew your EAD at the local office by walking in - is that true? If so, why would anyone go through the pain of waiting for 3+ months???

What are the risks of getting paid between the time that my EAD expires and when I get my new one?

    answers to my question

I got answers from my lawyers in case people are interested...

    1) You can file for an interim EAD at your local office only after 90 days have passed since your filing I-765 (EAD application) at the service center.

    2) You can only renew your EAD by walking into the local office if your application is based on marriage.
