H4 --->h1b---->ead

I need this urgent help. I was on H4, got my H1B this year through a consulting company. My EAD got approved meanwhile in this july flyer and got my card as well. My H1b sponsor Company knows that i got my EAD and they are showing least interest in searching for a job for me and neither they are responding back to my emails. I have my EAD.

Is is advisable to use my EAD to get a job?
Can i get my ssn using my EAD? If i do that, do i lose my H4 and H1B?
Do you advise me to change the H1b to H4 again?
Can i technically retain my H4 and use EAD?
My hubby is on H1B and has an approved EAD but is not planning to use it as he is happy with his present employer, so he would be on H1B.

you can use EAD to get SSN without affecting your status.

If your H1 was filed with COS (came with I-94) then your status will be H1 from the start date on I-94. Your H4 is gone already.

If it came without I-94 then you remain on H4 and cannot use H1 to work till you get COS aproved or get H1 stamped and enter using that.

If you want to work then use EAD as it gives more flexibility.

In case you decide not to work using H1 and also do not change status to H4 then your status will be AOS pending.
