  • (L2)EAD says No Re-entry

    Hi,
I have a L2 visa and got my EAD recently, but it has "No RE ENTRY" on it and it was given for a period of 1 year only.

    I was wondering
    1. if EAD are given only for 1 year?
    2. What does No Re Entry mean? If I have to travel abroad will I lose my EAD status?

    Thanks
    Salini

1.- Yes, EADs are issued for 1 year.

2.- EADs are essentially work permits, they are not to be used to attempt "re-entry" to the USA. So, it means that an EAD card is not a visa, you can not present it to the officer at the Port of Entry and say "let me in". You must show your valid visa, green card, or travel permit. Not the "work permit".
