travel on ap...STUCK IN BACKGROUND CHECK

We applied for I-485 in september 2005. I am currentlyworking on EAD. My question is that i wanted to travel to india on AP but i am stuck in background check . While coming back from india will there be any problem on the US airport as i am stuck in the background check. is it safe for me to travel with my family or not.

For as long as you did not commit a crime or something and your background check ends by showing you are a terrorist!

You should be fine to travel on AP and return. BUT READ THIS: If you ever overstayed or have been out of status for 180 days or more, YOU SHOULD NOT USE AP. It will trigger a ban on you from returning to the USA.

If you did not overstay, and do not have something illegal in your past. You should be fine.
