    Need your advice ..... PraetorianXI

    Hi PraetorianXI:
I was filing the I-131 document under the following address

    USCIS
    Attn: FBASI
    427 S. Lasalle - 3rd Floor
    Chicago, IL 60605

Since I am living into Chicago & my work is very close to this location. Do you think we (my wife) can visit the above address and asking what is the status of our AP document in person?

    Many Thanks
    Owen

Your AP is processed at the National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, MO.

The place you mention is the Mail Receiving Facility (Chicago Lockbox) they will not be able to help you there at all...

Make an infopass: http:infopass.uscis.gov/ to your local office to find out what is going on.

          PraetorianXI:
I need you advice me once again .... In my case, what do you think which type of appointment that matches best with the kind of inquiry or problem I have? I am not sure should I select either 1,2 or 4. As they said this step is important.

We offer 4 kinds of appointments for a case that you have already filed. Please choose from the following -
[1] Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.

[2] Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.

[3] EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

[4] Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

          Thanks You Once Again
          Best Regards.

select the option that talks about your permanent resident card. before this screen comes in. they do not explicitly let your schedule an infopass just for the AP. but they won't know, you just go there and speak with an IO to see what is going on.

                same boat

I had to refile AP for the 2nd time after the first one was lost. Everything from the beginning -- photo taking, form filling... And they still rejected me without taking a little time to read the explanation for refiling. It has been a week since last contact with them. No news yet on review of the case. I asked my lawyer about Infopass. She said it's not available for cases like mine. Well, I have given up hope.

                  wait

Another thing to mention is that I was told to wait for as long as 45 days for their letter of notice to reach me (the website says 30 days). They always give out confusing information. But fingers crossed that maybe your letter may still be on the way (which is the best scenario)?

We just received a email from USCIS today
On 12-31-07, we created an Advance Parole document for you and mailed it to the address we had on file at that time. You have notified us that you have not received it and the post office has not returned it to us. We must conclude that it has been lost in the mail. Therefore, you will need to file a Form I-131, Application for Travel Document. You can download this form on our website www.uscis.gov. You can also file this form electronically on our website. Please follow the instructions on the form. In the future, if you change your address please contact customer service at the number provided below.

I hope they can process our I-131 first instead of we have to wait for another 2 months or more

                        how

How did you get emails from them? What's their email address? Can we email them? I have to go through my lawyer for everything.

I applied for the 2nd time due to the 1st one was lost in mail, but they rejected me in two weeks saying I had applied the 1st AP not long ago. They don't read the explanation letter.( What a waste of time (they don't care)! Anyway, I still have not heard from them on revising my case.

                          INS proceeding question...

What is removal/deportation/exclusion proceedings mean? If you signed relief waiver and was given a Parole document at the border and fingerprinted before release, is that considered to be in an immigration proceeding- Or is an immigration proceeding is when you face IJ and court?

                            Hi NewJersey2007:
I called USCIS CS after 31 days since Dec 31 2007. The USCIS CS was asking me (my wife) question & information. They told me that they were opened a case for investigation. After a few days, they sent me (my wife) email to notice us for resenting the i_131 once again.

                              same

That was what I did, re-file for I-131 again. My lawyer has left numerous messages with the officer who is revising the case, but no reply (two weeks now). I don't know what's so complicated about it. They refused my 2nd application as a "renewal case" (too early to renew), but mine should be a "replacement case" for 1st AP as explicitly explained in a letter prepared by my lawyer.

Make sure that you have enough evidence/explanation for the lost AP, hopefully they'd take time to read.
