  • AP Question for PraetorianXI

    PraetorianXI :
How are you? Hope you can give us an advice.

We received the USCIS email saying our I-131 AP approval notice had been sent out on DEC 31. However, we are still not recieved it until today (Jan 10).

Since we are planning back to our country end of this month & we have to book for a flight ticket soon. Do you know is this the one document (AP approval notice) that what we need for us returning back to US after our trip?

    Thanks

Since her AP was approved, she can still travel as planned even if the AP does not arrive and you can mail her the AP document via private curier.

You can double check with USCIS costumer service. If you get the AP after she leaves, bring it to her (instead of mailing it).

AP can be lost in mail

My first AP was approved in August 2007. However, it was lost in the mail and I did not know about it until November. I had to re-apply for AP again in December. This time, my appeal is denied!!! The USCIS website tells me they sent out a letter on 12/12/07 with explanation of denial. Till this day, I still have not received this letter. I called the 800 number two times to ask them to send me the denial reason again, they now tell me it'd take up to 45 days to get a letter from them. This is ridiculous! My travel plan is completely ruined.

Newjersey2007, ... Sorry to hear about that. I just called USCIS a moment ago. Since the notice email was senting out on Dec 31 2007, so that they told me to call them back once again after Jan 31 2008. It looks like we couldn't go back to our country for celebrating our new year.

                        update

                        Hi Owen,

Just heard from my lawyer that the USCIS letter arrived today. It took almost 45 days, which was the time they told us to wait. The reason was ridiculous. They said I applied for AP not long ago and that was the reason for denial. They did not even read the letter explaining about the previous lost AP. Anyway, my lawyer called them today, and they now have an officer reviewing the case.

I can't believe how inefficient they are. They have totally ruined my travel plan going back to China for Chinese New Year. My parents were looking forward to seeing me, and now...

My advice for your wife is to cancel the travel plan and wait for AP (I know how disappointed that is). Although you hardly heard of a rejected AP (I was shocked when my 2nd AP was rejected), you never know what'd happen with USCIS. It's safer to have the document in hand when she travel.

                        Good Luck!

I called the USCIS customer service representative this afternoon. They told me that I have to call them back this Thursday (Jan 31 - Thurs) for reporting lost in mail if I (my wife) still do not receive the Approval AP document since they were senting out on Dec 31 2007.

The ridculous thing is my wife have to fill out the I-131 application form once again & resent it to them before they resent the new AP document to us. Now, I have no clue how long we have to wait they process my second I-131 form & when we will receive the NEW AP document.

It looks like we have to call our relatives and telling them we can't trip back for celebrate our chinese New year.

Confusing from USCIS Customer Service represent

Finally, I called USCIS this morning since the AP notice document has been lost in 31 days in mail since DEC 31 2007.

It is very odd that they told me that my wife's AP travel document is never been mailed it out for us. The one mailed it out on Dec 31 2007, it is ONLY a approval notice, not a actual AP Travel Document. They will sent out the REAL AP travel document for us later, it will be around in March. WHY IT TAKES SO LONG!!!!

Different USCIS Customer Service represent are telling me different stories. This CS told me they are never been sent out my wife AP travel document. The other CS told me I have to claim lost after lost 31 days & resent the new I-131 application once again. One of them told me that I can ask for expedite for this case requesting the AP after lost in 31 days.

I am so cofusing at this moment.

There is no such thing... as just an approval notice... the approval notice IS the document... the advance parole approved document you will need. Make an infopass to your local DO.
