EAD Application rejected due to wrong fees

My EAD Application was sent back due to wrong fees and I was told to resubmit with correct fees which I did, but they still sent back the application saying the visa number is not available.
I wanted to check if any of you had the same issue.

did you send a copy of your I-485 receipt? are you affected by retrogression or something?

I was not issued a formal reciept but the reciept number was there on the back of check returned. We sent back the application with the new fees which did not have the reciept number.

I filed based on the July 07 visa bulletin so I am not affected by retrogession.

You need to submit the I-765 with a copy of the I-485 receipt.

I think my question was not correct. My I485 was rejected because of wrong fees so I dont have a reciept for the same. Just the reciept number that was there on the back of the check.

if I-485 was rejected then you cannot apply for EAD.

EAD is a derivative benefit of I-485, dont confuse the two. There were several packets incorrectly rejected ain July 2007 fiasco, check with your lawyer if you can file again. because otherwise there is a long wait till PD becomes current. If you have to pay a good lawyer
