  • Efiling EAD processing time

Hi , My visa status is L2 and my EAD is valid till Apr 20 2008.I had to visit India in Jan 2008. I have efiled for renewal of EAD on Feb19, 2008 as soon as I came back. I have also sent my supporting documents immediately. Please let me know when I can expect my EAD to be renewed. If I do not get the approval within April 20 2008, then do I have to quit my job?

Please suggest if there is any other alternative so that I can continue my Job..

How long it will take to get the EAD?

I have not heard anything from them till now. I have received the receipt notice as I had e-filed. Their customer care number gives automated case status only. Is there any way to contact them to know the status of my case?

    Please help.Thanks

EAD must be approved with in 90 days, so you must apply 91 days atleast before its expiry. You have right to ask your local office if it crosses 90 days.

did you go to get fingerprint?

I have applied feb 22, 2008 and already got the fingerprint appointment. make sure you get it too and if you didn't check with them because sometimes it get lost and your case will be denied.
Also if you look the instructions of I-9 (form for employees to verify if you are eligible for employment) it looks like you can start working and have 90 days to show your employer your aproved ead. but it also says that only a receipt is not enough for proof of employment... I am not sure of if you can work or not... I am in the same situation and when I talk to my lawyer he said that he interpreted it as if you have applied already the you can keep your job. If anybody has a different imput it will be great!

        no news yet

        Hi Juanlovi,

Thanx for updating your status. I am bit frustated as i have not received anything yet.

When I called the customer service, they said they are still processing january cases and my turn will come around march 20(after a month from the date of application). I am worried as my EAd will expire in april 20. When I told them about my situation, they said they can expedite the process if I can provide a proof of financial loss from my employer .

When did u get the letter and when is the appointment. Ve u applied to Texas sevice center?
