Seeking for info to use AP for travel

I have both H1 approval (expired passport stamp) and AP. I am planning to go for vacation. I am wondering should I use AP to come back to US instead of getting passport stamped using H1?
I have EAD and AP through my spouse, I do not want to sacrifice my H1 status and wondering if I can use AP to come back.
The reason for above is I have short vacation and therefore want to avoid going to US embassy for H1 stamp on passport

Get the H1 stamped to avoid any future hassles.
