Ead 2 H1

I am using my EAD with my new Job. My employer is doing the H1 as a backup that will be valid until 2011. Incase if there is any problem to my EAD before the new H1 expires , can I switc to the approved H1 (until 2011) I already have?

EAD will cancel the H1.
