Information on EAD Renewal

Hi,

I am working on L1 and my wife got L2 and we applied EAD and after that she is working. She has got VISA till 18th May 2009 but her I94 is valid till 18th May 2008.

So we have aplied for the I94 extension and got the receipt number.Now how can we go ahead with her EAD renewal? Do we need to wait till the new I94 arrives? Or we can renew her EAD as per her VISA date which is valid till 18th may 2009?
