H4 and EAD/AP

I am a H1B and I have recently applied for I-140/485, my spouse who is H4 has also applied and obtained EAD, I ,however, have decided to remain in the H1B status.
Question ? if my spouse decides to use her EAD, which immigration status is she in? Does she need to apply for AP in order for her to travel even if , I the principal still H1B?

she would assume "AOS pending" status and would need AP to travel.
