EAD after visa status changes

My spouse is on L2 and has a valid EAD. Our visa is due for renewal next year, April 2009 but his EAD has to be renewed before July. My question is - would his EAD renewal be only till the date the visa is valid??

Also, what happens if he gets his EAD and our visa status changes. Would he still be eiligible to work based on the EAD or does the EAD invalidates after visa status changes?

EAD is invalid without its accompanying status that gave the EAD in the first place. EAD is given till the validity of the petition.

EAD is contingent on the visa status. If status changes, the EAD cannot be used. The EAD should only be valid till the vailidity of the status, I think.

Thanks for the prompt reply..!Does that mean that his EAD would only be renewed till the visa validity date or till the I-94 date?

I-94 or petition validity date. Both will be the same.
