Can I use and renew my EAD?

I am an H1-B holder and my wife got her green card recently through the lottery. I am still waiting for the security clearance. I need to change my job and use my EAD, that I got when i filled the I-485, instead of the H1-B. I am afraid that the security clearance will not be ready before the end of September which is the last chance to get the green card. My question is if do not get my green card, is it possible to use my EAD and renew it when it expires? Giving the fact that my wife got her green card and we all are in US.

Why is it a last chance to get GC in september? You can renew EAD until your 485 remains pending.

Thanks for your repy
I was informed that the 2008 lottery GC ends on September 30 and USCIS can not issue GC for 2008 appilcations because they will start processing the 2009. If for any reason (e.g the security clearance will not be ready by that time), the I-485 will be disapproved. If this is true, can i renew my EAD based on my new status of the husband of a GC holder?

I don't think that is true. But my knowledge about DV lottery GC is limited.
