  • Renewed EAD - Alien number not valid error

    Hello Readers,
We just renewed our EADs (spouse and I) for the period of 1 year effective Sep16,2008 to Sep 15,2009. I am on H1 however my spouse is using EAD. Presenting new EAD at work, she asked them to enter this information in the system. Employer's HR is complaining that she is receiving Alien number error from her system. I am not sure why this is happening as Alien number on both cards (one expiring of last yer and the renewed one for next yr) is same .
I was wondering if anyone ever received similar problems in the past and if yes what can be done to fix the issue. Do I need to call INS? Do we need ask HR to wait till new card becomes effective?
Please let me know if anyone had similar experience.
    Thankyou,
    D

What kind of program are they registered with? E-verify? They have to sort it out with USCIS about the error. New card is effective the date of approval. What other date are you talking about?

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

I am not sure what kind of program they are registered with - I will find it out and post it soon - hopefully tomorrow.

INS approved new card on May 29, 2008.

Current card is valid till Sep 15, 2008. New Card's validity starts from Sep 16, 2008 to Sep 15,2009 - 1 yr. I was thinking that HR may have to wait before entering new card number into their verification system till Sep16, 2008 to enter new card number (though it doesn't make any sense - you never know).

The alien number does not change with the new card being issued. A# remains the same.

seems like They are not using e-verify...HR entered information again by switching the numbers (A# & Card#) - waiting for response. they were saying it may take a week thus assuming this is not e-verify
