  • ***URGENT***Should I apply for an EAD/AP as a backup?

    Hey Guys,
I am currently on my 6th year of H1B (expires Nov 25th 2008)
My Labor/ I-140 has been approved.
I even submitted my I-485 to the Nebraska office in July, 2007
I even received a notification for fingerprinting on Aug 30th 2007 and completed it.
My agency is going to apply for an H1B extension as I am allowed 3 years extension based on visa numbers not being available.
I never applied for my EAD/AP, as my lawyer suggested H1B extension should be the route I take.
I have read posts that suggest it is taking awfully long (some said up to 6 months) for H1B extensions to come through. I have a little over 3 months left before my current H1 expires.
    So I was wondering:
    1) If I should apply for the EAD/AP to have as a backup?
    2) If I am eligible to file electronically?
    3) How long does EAD/AP take?
    4) Which Service Center should I be applying at? My I-485 is at Nebraska Service Center.
    Please help.

It would be mighty smart to apply for an EAD before your stuff expires...
You may have to look up where to file and what not
