travel on AP (really urgent)

Hi I need a suggestion regarding my sitution.... I have a valid AP & EAD & I am on H4 visa but my visa expired and i really dont kno if my lawyer renewed my visa as i havnt heard from him, but i need to travel to India,... is it safe to travel on AP??
Please do let me know as I am planning to travel next week.....

If you use AP your plane may crash...

What do you mean by safe? It is less safe than a good H visa... but still, plenty of people travel on AP... you are never guaranteed entry though.

Well thank you for your advise & now I am sure that my plane will not crash........lol but can you tell me what docs do i need to carry when I travel ??

Passport, your approved AP (all copies of it) and just in case, your I-485 receipt notice.
