Can I work on 1099 while waiting for EAD card?

Hi All,

I got my biometrics done on 9/17/2008 and just got a job offer that I can't pass up on this. It's a contractor position and I'll be on 1099, so if anyone knows if I can starting working before I get an EAD card? Also how long does it usually take to get the card after the biometrics (I applied for an EAD based on I-485 c(9), Greencard through family-base). Thanks

No EAD = No Work in any form.

1099 is not an immigration form... it is an IRS tax related form... YOU CAN NOT WORK without the EAD.

You can't WORK without EAD. Except you are hired ILLEGALLY. Your EAD via I485 (Marriage with greencard holder), if a Cuban/haitian spouse, then It will be a lot easier to get your I765 if with just a regular GC holder from other countries. might be slower.
