    L2 Ead

    Hi,

I have applied for new EAD card (paper filing) on L2 visa at Nebraska center. USCIS received my application on 15th Sept 2008. Along with the mandatory documents, I have sent a copy of my SSN too (which states I am authorized to work with DHS authorization). I have read some of the threads in this forum that it will take approx 60-90 days for USCIS to issue an EAD card.

    My questions are:
    1. Can i work part time till the time i receive an EAD card? If yes, what are the options?
    2. Did anyone received the EAD card withing 60-90 days based on paper filed application (after USCIS receive the documents)?
    3. Right now USCIS (at Nebraska center) are processing the cases received till 31st August. So approx how much more time it will take for them to process my case?
    4. I am getting offers from companies here on full time work basis. Will I-9 form and SSN/I-94/Passport satisy the employment criteria?

    Thanks,
    Neo

    1. No. SSN card says with DHS authorization and EAD is the doc that provides you the authorization.
    2. Many do get it in the time period.
    3. Depends on security checks.
    4. No, EAD is mandatory. Otherwise, it is illegal work.

Hey, where did you get 31st August date from? USCIS's website shows 3 months.

            Thanks.
And is there a way to expedite the process. I will loose my job if i don't get EAD in time.

After waiting for 90 days, take infopass and the local office will send an expedite request to the service center that processes the request.

No faster processing as they let you apply 120 days in advance prior to expiration.
