Calling USCIS Customer Service

Hi,
Is it really true that the USCIS customer service folks have no more information than what is provided on their web site about a particular case?
I am getting worried because my EAD/AP is still not coming and I wanted to call the customer service to find out what is going on...

How long has it been pending?

When did you file? When was your receipt date? etc.

If you receipt date has been pending for more than 90days you can get in touch with the ombudmans office and get some action on the EAD card at least.

Receipt date is 27th of October, 08. Biometreics was done on 25th of November 2008. Category is under EB-2. PD is March 2002.
My job is a little uncertain right now thats why I am worried.
