Hi All
I applied for AOS (my wife is american). I applied for AP (business reasons) and employment authorisation at the same time (i765). My application was received by the USCIS (National Benefits Center) on the 24th Nov.
The estimated processing time is supposed to be 60-90 days. When I hadn't received any decision regarding AP / EA after 90 days, I phoned USCIS only to be told that there was an error with their system that showed the estimated processing time was 180 days (when supposed to be 90 days) which meant that they couldn't escalate the inquiry. They said the only thing that I could do was go and see my local office (baltimore).
What I'd like to know is can the local office grant AP / EA or only emergency AP? Is emergency AP only given for humanitarian reasons? Mine isn't a matter of life or death but I need to go and sort out business / financial matters that have become urgent.
