Have valid AP and applied for new and need to travel -- urgent

Hi,

Let me explain my situation as I didn't find any threads with people in this situation.

I have a valid AP till 21st of August.
I applied for a renewal of AP on 8th of May and its still pending.
All of a sudden I need to travel outside of US for 2 weeks on 19th of June.

I was hoping my AP renewal will come before I travel but now with 2 weeks left the chances seems to be slim.

Question: If I use my current AP while entering US and my new AP come while I am outside US will it still be valid or I need ot apply a new one? (I read in many forums if your AP is approved while you are outside US you have to apply for a new one).

Any input is appreciated.
