SSN on EAD without work

My wife is on H4 but also hold EAD. However she never used it. what if we get SSN on EAD and doesn't work? will she be on EAD status or H4? I am thinking if we atleast can have her credit score start.

Just getting SSN does not change the status. She will still be on H4.
