What happen if my EAD renewal does not come thru before my existing EAD expires?? Will I be out of status?

My current EAD will expire on 12/29/2004 and I just filed the renewal on 10/8/2004 - so I missed about 10 days (you are supposed to file renewal at least 90 days before the current EAD expires) so that means I can't get an interim EAD if the renewal doesn't get approved before the current one expires, correct?

My husbands Ead was approved even though it was abt 15 days late! So i think that should not be a problem and you should be receiving your EAD in time.

Yeah, I agree with Sowmya...EAD renewal does not take much time...
their website says that you should apply 6 months prior to the expiration date
so anyways, mine was set to expire in feb 2005 and I applied in october...they received my application on 15th october and it's already been approved and the new card is on its way!!! All in less than a month!!! (Vermont Service Center)...
next time if I need to apply, I'm going to apply just 2 months before as the EAD I'll get now wont be valid for a year, but only 9 Months (as in, instead of getting it from feb 2005-feb2006, I'll be getting it from nov 2004-nov2005)!!
So don't worry...you'll get it before your's is set to expire!

You will not be out of Status if your 485 is pending. This 90 days in advance thing is confusing. (It is probably to get EAD by the time the old one expires). If you don't receive a decision in 90 days from USCIS you may go to their local office serving your area and get an EAD. You will get EAD .

Don't do the mistake which i did

Hai, i applied for my EAD renewal 83 days a head of expiring date, for today it is 86th day, still my EAD case is in the process, my employer removed from Payroll and presently i am in leave of absence, i am worring what will happen to my new EAD. pls don't do the same mistake which i did, try to appy for EAD renewal atleast 90-100 ahead. (mine is Vermont Service center)
