Hello,
I am wondering if anyone has been in the boat: we left the US with my husband's expired EAD card. He had applied for a renewal 2 months prior to leaving but at the time we did not know it would take 5-7 months to get the renewal. We decided to leave anyway. We have been out of the country for the whole time waiting for the card and planning on having someone send it to us. It has not arrived and our interview is scheduled in 6 days. We went to the Embassy in the country we are in and they told us to go to a port of entry and ask to be readmitted. He seemed to think our chances of re-entry would be good, since we are a family, (Since applying for AOS we have a had baby who is now 1, that's how long this is taking!) and we have an interview scheduled. Also, our attorney did not get a notice that we left and that our application was abandoned like he did for another one of his clients who left BEFORE he received his EAD.
I know we should not have left but that is water under the bridge. Let's just get past that and NOT comment about it.
My question is, has anyone left and come back with an expired EAD? and what happened?
Thanks in advance!
