Ead ap renewal

Hello all,

i have been on an ead/ap for 7 years (no h1b since 7 years). Now, my laywers are saying along with ead/ap renewal they need to file for h1b extension to maintain my underlying visa status!!!

Is this true , did some new rule show up?

Please advise.

No, there is no need to get H1b status. But it doesn't hurt to get it, if they're paying for it.
