  • Applied for EAD, wondering about current processing times

    Hi!

I applied for an EAD on a(18) - Spouse of L1 category.

    My timeline is as follows:

May 15, 2019 - Sent paper documentation on the mail
May 18, 2019 - Tracking number showed it had been received by USCIS
May 20, 2019 - Credit card was charged with the processing fee
May 23, 2019 - SMS received with Receipt Number
May 28, 2019 - Letter received in the mail saying that my case is in process

I'm checking the EAD (I-765) Tracker in this forum, and I see recently user sjohn received their's in 48 days total, so I'm hoping to have a similar timeline.

I have a question though, I've seen some people mention Biometrics. If USCIS requests biometrics, it would've been on this last letter that I got yesterday, am I correct?
I've also seen people talk about expedited EAD, is that something anyone can ask for?

    Thank y'all!

Biometrics app letter comes separate from the EAD notice of action

As for how long it takes, check the current processing times https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
48 days is an exception and really not something you should expect. Think more like 6 months depending on processing center etc.
Rules to expedite can be found here: https://www.uscis.gov/us-visa-and-im...pedite-request
This is my opinion, not legal advice!

062618 - "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview"
082618 - "we scheduled an interview for your Form I-485"
    090418 - 2nd we scheduled
    091018 - first interview canceled
092118 - Request to reschedule int
    102318 - Renewal filed EAD/AP
    030819 - EAD/AP Card in hand
040219 - We canceled your int
    040519 - Int sched
    051419 - Interview

So the letter that I received is just to confirm that they're processing everything?
I should be checking the notifications for possible biometric appointment letter then, right?

It says 3 to 5 months , I'll keep a positive mind though

USCIS will not update the online case with the biometric letter, if you have USPS informed delivery, you could find out if you are going to get something from them in the mail.
Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

          Thank you very much!
So I guess now it's just waiting... will be looking into USPS Informed Delivery, or the mailbox daily though!
