Apply for EAD without SS card?

Hi,
Am on L2 visa and have my SSN but waiting for the SS card and am in the process of applying for EAD. Read immihelp forums, USCIS I 765 form instructions and could only find 'evidence of lawful status' mentioned as document required.(I assume visa and I 94 will suffice as evidence) Can anyone tell me if i should wait for card and then submit the I765 with a photo copy of SS card?. Shall I go ahead and submit the I765 without SS card?

you dont need a ss number or card to apply for ead. You can leave the column as n/a if you dont have one....but if you have a ssn add it.

By the way if you dont have the card yet, how did you know your number....

The card would be mailed(now i received one though. ) in a two weeks time, but the ssn gets generated overnight and a print out of it can be got from the SSA officer the next day itself (if needed)
