  • EAD Renewal

    Hi All

My wife's EAD is expiring on Jan 8th 2005. I have sent renewal papers to my attorney long before but he delayed for some unknown reason and applied later, the recepit date is 20th Oct 2004. So there is less than 90 days gap between the receipt date for renewal and expiry date. She has never worked in US until now, she got a good job offer and really wants to take that.

Can she work until Jan 8th 2005 and quit on Jan 8th if she does not get her EAD by then?
What will be her status between Jan 8th and time she gets her new EAD if she works until Jan 8th?

I appreciate if somone could answer. Thanks.

I am also having the same problem, we got our I94 just 4 days before our old one got expired so i applied for my new EAD with I94 for renewal just 3 days before old EAD expired now i am trying for jobs what will be my status now.
How long will the EAD process take.

      EAD renewal after expiration

the first thing you need to do is find out what the processing date for your particular field office is. go to uscis.gov to find out. the link is https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/js...ocesstimes.jsp.

i'm having the same problem, only my EAD expired long after the end date, and now i am waiting for my new one. i applied on Nov. 14 and the processing date says that they are only reviewing applications that were accepted from Sept. 30. How much longer do you think this will take? i am being offered a job but i need to start by mid to late January. Does anyone think that is realistic?

If you do not receive your new EAD even after 3 months (90 Days)of submitting your EAD renewal application form then you can get interim EAD from your local USCIS office, so that you do not have to stop working. To obtain an interim EAD, two USCIS-specified photographs and the 485 and EAD receipt notices are needed. You will get the interim EAD on the same day.

If your EAD expires and you dont receive the new one, you are not authrised to work for that period till you get the new one.
if 90 days over after you applied, you can go to the nearest USCIS office and get a intrim EAD instantly.
