  • AP approved. Can I travel?

    Good day,

my renewed AP and EAD combo card was approved (received approval notices after AFTER card was sent back)... however my card was sent back to uscis because of an error (that my attorney made), in my mailing address. After I checked my status online, i booked a ticket to fly out of the US.
time is drawing near to my travel date and I still do not have my card on hand. If I were to leave the US does this pose any problem for re-entry or my AOS application if my husband were to bring my card with him? My husband plans on traveling overseas (to me) 2.5 weeks after I leave.

There is a chance that the card will not arrive for your husband to bring it to you.
The general recommendation is not to travel abroad without the AP.

Is your current combo card expired?
Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

If your advance parole doesn’t arrive when your husband leaves there is a chance that airlines don’t let you board !

I traveled before while waiting for an AP. Only twist is that I had a valid AP card that was almost expired but was still valid. New one was issued while I was abroad just as old one was about to expire. Once the new one was issued I didn’t bother rushing back and I had the new one mailed to me. It’s still risky because for example recently, my old TD expired and before they issued my new one they have recently sent a request for evidence for my I-131 which has never happened before. There’s absolutely no telling how long any applications are taking these days and you have to be aware that the crazy admin in office right now is ending over backwards to frustrate and trip up ppl. I wouldn’t risk traveling now without an AP on hand.
