Hello, I would like to share my experience on EAD.
My husband has a L1, so as spouse, I am holding a L2 before came to U.S. Here is the time line:
1. filed date : 09/12/2019
2. sent an email to USCIS: 01/28/2020
3. received an reply from USCIS on 01/30/3020 ,saying that my EAD card is issued and on the way to delivery. I am expected to receive the card on 02/14/2020, by that time it will be 5 months of waiting to get this done.
I was sooooo surprised to see such a change as I dont even ask for expedites for the EAD in my email. Hence i want to share my experience for those who are still waiting for the EAD with pressure and anxiety.....
I arrived in U.S last September, and filed the EAD application on 12th Sept, 2019. I received a notice by mail from USICS on 12th Sept,2019 stating that they have received my application, then following a long period without any updates. During the past 4 months, I called the customer service number many times but never able to connect to talk to a real staff, checked my case statue twice a month but never seen any updates. I have tried to create an inquiry to expedite my case but the system refused as my time line is still within the normal processing time ( as indicated on website for I-765, processing time 6 months to 8 months).
My husband and I have looked at lots of articles in different forums regarding looking for a job before obtaining an EAD and how to expedite due to serious financial lost.....but I dont even have a job offer, neither do I know if I am allowed to look for a job without EAD.....
So I sent an email to California service centre on 01/28/2020: , saying that we are facing more and more financial pressure as living on only one income and ask if i am allowed to look a job while I am waiting for my EAD. Then i received an reply saying the EAD Card has issued to me today.
I know how unrestful feeling it is during such long waiting period, if you are in the same situation as mine, try to send an email like what I did, and wish you LUCK!!
Thanks,
April
