AP renewal question

Hello,

My wife is using EAD. Her current AP is valid until mid-August. But, I am planning to apply for her AP renewal. Can she travel to India between now and mid-August while her AP renewal is in process. am assuming that she should be fine, since her current AP is still valid. Am I right?
