When renewing an unexpired EAD, is the new EAD effective for 1 year from the approval date, or is it valid for 1 year from the expiry date of the previous EAD?

You can file for EAD renewal upto 180 days before the current one expires.
The new EAD validity will start from a day after the current one expires.Opinion only. Cannot be construed as legal advice. -
I don't know if it is different for some categories. We sent our EAD/AP renewals 4 months before expiration and 2 were approved in a month. The validity started the day they sent the card to production or approval date.
First EAD was valid from March 2019 to March 2020. The renewal is valid from December 2019 to December 2020.
