Hi- my wife moved to US under the K-1 Visa last year. We got married and filed for her EAD which we received as of late November last year. As per USCIS, with the EAD she is eligible to apply for and work in the US (except Federal jobs).
We are hitting roadblocks when companies are asking for her status - she does not have a Visa category anymore as the K-1 expired upon marriage. As her i-485 for Greencard is in process, we are telling prospective companies that she is getting permanent status. However, these companies seem to have only two checkboxes - either she already has permanent status or she needs to have a visa category, so when we tell them her i485 is pending, they are backing away because she doesn't fit those two exact checkboxes.
I imagine folks have faced this situation before- any advice would be greatly appriciated!
