I was approved for permanent residency at the end of May. USCIS sent my green card to the wrong address and card has been on the way back to sender for a month now without success. I called posit office over 100 times and there is absolutely no help from them in locating that card. I count that it’s lost and gave up on it. I called USCIS many times trying to get I-551 stamp in my passport since I have urgent travel on Monday. No success, they tell me I will get a call to schedule infopass appointment and nobody followed up. I just filled I-90 form to replace lost green card since it’s been over a month that it’s been sent to me. I still haven’t received receipt. I have to travel back home on Monday, now it’s Saturday. I have no clue what to do and how to come back to the country. I plan to stay one month maximum. I do have EAD and advance parole that is still valid. Does anyone know if I can use that instead to come back. Help, I don’t know how to come back and I have to travel!!!!

Lots of crazy stuff has happened with covid, but i do not understand how the greencard can be sent to a "wrong" address. Did you move after filing for I-485 ? If yes, did you update the address with USCIS for that specific I-485 case ?
To answer your questions:
- Yes, you can travel on an un-expired AP back to the US.
- At the port of entry, let CBP know that your greencard was approved but you never received it and you are doing everything possible (including filing for replacement).
- CBP will most likely send you into secondary inspection, where an officer will pull up your A# (which should be on your combo card) and verify that your application has been approved.
- They will then stamp your passport with an I-551 stamp which serves as evidence of Permanent Residence.

Thanks for your advice. What happened was they sent it to my old lawyer’s address. I honestly don’t remember that he put requests for documents to be sent to him and as far as I was aware all the documents were supposed to be sent directly to me. I had previously two EADs and both were sent directly to me. I didn’t speak to lawyer for year since we were waiting year and half after interview to get approved. In that time he loved without updating anyone: me or USCIS. Overall, terrible lawyer regret ever spending a penny on a guy. So since they couldn’t deliver card because he doesn’t live there any more USPS sent it back to USCIS. But the card is stuck for month on the way back to sender and updates stopped in transit about two weeks ago. So card is somewhere lost with USPS. I have tried literally everything to find out why is going on but the USPS is the worst. I am on the edge of suing them for mishandling this and not wanting to fix their mistake. I just when the month passed after the card was sent out I filled I-90 form to replace green card. That was last week and I still haven’t received receipt. My flight is tonight and I absolutely cannot about this trip. USCIS has denied issuing me I-551 stamp because it’s not urgent enough ( they said no one is dying in my family). So basically there is no way for me as a Legal Permanent Resident to travel which I just can’t accept. If that lost card somehow makes it back to USCIS and then to me, my husband is ready to bring me or mail me to my home country. But if not, I am stuck to do it with Advance Parole. I don’t have another way.
