IMP: Question on EAD renewal on L2

Hi,

I am currently working on EAD on L2 status and filed my EAD renewal application in May2010.My current EAD expires on 17-Jul-2010. I wanted to know what options I have in case I don't get my renewal approved before my current EAD expires? Can I continue working based on the fact that my renewal is in progress?
Is there anyway I can contact USCIS and request to expedite the process? I have heard that an applicant/petitioner can place a call with USCIS in case of any questions on status etc., of an application? How is that done?

I have called the customer care but they do not have any further information on my application. Its the same as what I see on the website.

Any inputs will really be helpful.

Thanks for your response. I checked the link below. In my case I applied for renewal of EAD 60 days prior to expiration of my current EAD. Can I apply for an Interim EAD if I don't recieve it before the expiration of my current EAD (although it will not be 90 days)? Is there any way I can continue working if I don't get my EAD renewed before my current EAD expires?
