URGENT: EAD renewal on L2

Hi,

I am on working on EAD on L2 status and have applied for renewal of my EAD in May 2010. My current EAD expires on 17-Jul-2010 and I wanted to know if I can continue working based on the fact that I have applied for EAD renewal?

Has anyone been through this situation before?
Can someone please advise what options do I have?

No, you have to stop working if you do not get the new card before the current card's expiration date. That is the law. EAD is taking 30-60 days based on if it was efiled or paperfiled these days.

Do not work as it is illegal after expiry if the EAD and could lead to deportation.

I have my ead and it will expire on nov 2011. But I want to visit India this year on nov 2010. Will my ead expire if i'll return back. My viza ia also valid till nov 2011.And its return on ead that is not valid after re entry.

Thank you very much for your response. I am currently on unpaid leave as my current EAD has expired and I am yet to receive my new EAD card. Is this ok?

Also it has been 70+ days that I have applied for my renewal EAD. I tried to raise an expedite request but it was denied. Is there anyway to get the EAD renewed sooner?

Jaiswal: I think you have it wrong.... EAD does not have anyhting to do with you travelling in/out of the country. It has an effective date and expiration date.. thats all.

You have to make sure that you Only work when you have a Valid EAD, if for any reason it expires before you recieve the renewal you "SHOULD NOT WORK"

as that may cause you 485 being rejected... tread carefully.
