EAD renewal, what to write as "current status or category"???

Hello Immi friends,

I hope you can help. I had my I-485 interview appx 3 weeks ago (went well, only 15 min long, very basic questions, officer stated its a "very straight forward case" and we should get our approval in a few weeks). We have not heard anything and my online account still shows as "interview ready to be scheduled". I contacted USCIS and they said nothing has been updated in the system. I am no longer comfortable waiting to see when my GC will arrive as my EAD card is going to expire in mid August and I am currently working. My situation has change from when I first filed my AOS/EAD.

I was on an H1b visa, which expired 10/2020. Before it expired we filed for my AOS (this was back in Feb 2020). So my question is what do I put for question 25 on the form "current status or category" as I no longer am on the H1B but I understand while the 485 is pending you still maintain some kind of status. Thanks in advance!

I have written "Pending I-485" on all our renewals, no problems so far.

They took 2 months to send me the receipt with the extension wording this year. I hope you get your GC soon.

Yes. While Adjustment of status petition is pending, you can be in the USA and with the help of EAD you can work.. Regarding form filling, I agree another member mentioned that you will need to write as Pending I-485 which will be appropriate.
