EAD/AP approved for primary but still pending for the dependent

Hi,

My EAD/AP application status changed to the case is approved and then the card is being produced but my wife I-765 & I-131 status still did not change and remains stuck at " Fingerprints were taken". I am a bit surprised as I was assuming that our cases will be adjudicated at the same time. Is it common that primary and dependent applications to be adjudicated on separate occasions?

That happened to us too. The principal approved one day and the dependants approved a couple of days after that.

For renewals, we sent all 3 at the same time, principal and one dependent approved in less than a month, the other dependent approved around 4 months. You never know what will happen. I hope you get the other EAD/AP approval soon.

Hello TImm2021, I am in a similar situation. My husband's (primary) status updated to Approved and mine (dependent) still has status as Finger prints applied. It has been 5 days since his updated. I am waiting for my status update. Would greatly appreciate if you could share your experience on your case as it has been almost 8 months now. Please let me know whether your wife status updated after how long and did you take any steps for that. That would be helpful. Thanks for your help in advance.

It will be approved eventually. It might take a few days and in some cases it might take up to a few weeks as well because each case has to be independently reviewed and approved. Based on my understanding, it involves background check. It is possible that your background check is taking more time than your husband. Unless there are some serious issues in your case, you should not worry but just wait.

If your case is beyond the processing timeline then you can raise a service request with USCIS but I would advise you to just wait.

Thanks Shiva for your response. When I chatted with EMMA, I was told that my application is in line for an officer to be assigned to the case for the final review where the officer will make a decision. Unfortunately USCIS does not provide a time frame on how long this part of the application may take. We do apologize for any inconvenience.

Did you come across any such case where EMMA agent provided such details. Or do you have any idea about what exactly this means and how long should I wait.
