Can I move to GC EAD from L1A visa

Hi, I've received GC EAD recently for me and for my kids except my dependent partner who is on L2 EAD. And my L1 visa is expiring in Feb '22 and I need to renew for me and my all L2 dependents. My employer is suggesting to move to GC EAD instead of renewing L1 visa. And I heard from few that its not advisable to move to EAD till GC comes when L1 can be renewed.

Looking for inputs and experiences who've gone through ?
Will it affect my dependent partner's work / immigration status.
