  • EAD 180 day Extension expiring soon, where is my EAD/AP renewal?

    Hello,

My EAD 180 day Extension receipt is expiring in March. Last year I applied for EAD/AP renewal back in April and i still did not hear back. Has anyone lived a similar scenario? Does USCIS normally wait until the last moment to send the renewal (at the end of the 180 days extension period) so there are no gaps on employment? Please help! Should I try to file an expedite?

    Thank you!

    Sandra.

Texas is taking around a year to process I-765. It seems that they don't give preference to renewals. I hope you get your EAD soon.

Looking at the USCIS processing times site, I see for Texas:
Estimated time: 11.5 Months to 13.5 Months
Form Type: Based on a pending I-485 adjustment application [(c)(9)]
Receipt date for a case inquiry: January 05, 2021

I can't believe this is happening, they only extend the EAD for 180 days but they are taking more than 330 days to process the case.

You can try to expedite your case, but from what I read the denial rate is very high. Good luck.
Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021
        ---
All my posts are based on my experience or information I read on the forums or the USCIS website. I may be wrong. Please consult a professional.

The date for inquiry is not accurate to know what month they are processing now (since October last year, they are moving it back every month). Texas had a huge backlog caused by applications from Oct 2020 (around 26k). It took them 7 months to clean it. They are currently processing November 2020, and a small part of Dec 2020. However, they are focusing on EAD now, and we can see that they have been processing 400-800 applications daily for the last 3 weeks. On the other side, I-485 processing is very miserable, but they have started to more and more transfer applications to other centers (which is good). I hope you are going to see your EADs soon.

You can try to expedite, but you need to have a "strong" case, like a financial loss. They are very strict and usually, they will deny the first 2 attempts, it's helping if you go through the congressman or ombudsman.
