EAD Renewal without new VISA Stamp

Hi,

here is my case:

My Visa (J-2) and EAD are expiring on December 30th.
My wife J-1 Visa just got extended for another year (until december 2011).

Can I apply for the renewal of my EAD with the new DS-2019 without going back first to my home country (Belgium) to get a stamp from the US Embassy ?

So can I renew it with my old I-94 and new DS-2109 ?

EAD and visa stamp are not related. Any document that shows an extended status with I-94 would get you an EAD extension.
