EAD renewal and Auto Extension

I am a H1B visa holder with approved I-140. My visa expires Jan 10th, 2025 and my employer refused to include my wife EAD renewal application, in the H1B/H4 extension (normal processing). Assuming we get the H4 receipt in few weeks, 1) can we apply for EAD renewal with the H4 receipt notice (i.e., while H1 and H4 extension in progress), 2) is my spouse eligible for automatic extension, if EAD renewal receipt date is before 10th Jan.
