  • Renewed EAD with erroneous Expiration Date

    Dear Members,

My EAD is due to expire on May 04, 2011 and I applied for EAD renewal on Jan 14, 2011.

Today I got my EAD card. But the dates are listed as from 2/24/2010 till 2/23/2011.

I called USCIS and the customer rep said they are aware of this error and I was asked to wait 30 days. She said someone from USCIS will contact me and if I do not receive any correspondence, I should call them back. When asked if I have to file for anything, she said that she has everything that she needs and she did not even ask for my Receipt number too. (What was that about??)

I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience.

PS. Just in case, I sent an email to [email protected] explaining the problem.

    Renewal of ead

    User IL,
Don't bother yourself there was no error, the dates you have is when your new EAD was approved and the old one is nolonger valid. The new EAD does not have to start from the expiration date of the old one unless it was approved on that date or close to it. You should have delay the application for the new EAD till the begining of march and it would have been approved in late April or Early May. So this is your luck, USCIS HAVE SHORT- CHANGED YOU AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.

      Dear lionofafrica,

      Thanks for your response.

USCIS says we can apply for renewal 120 days prior to the expiration of the EAD card. And current processing times are showing as 3 months on the website. You want to apply as soon as possible so there are no delays in between. I applied for the renewal on 14th of Jan (which makes it 110 days for my expiration).

And besides the date on my approval was stamped as Feb 25th, 2011 and the card expires on Feb 23rd, 2011. I am thinking this must clearly be a mistake. Since USCIS rep said they are aware of this problem, I wanted to check if anyone else on this board had same experience when dealing with USCIS before.

        Hello Members,

For all of those who viewed the posting, here is the update.

I took Infopass appointment and met with an Immigration officer today in Chicago.

She said this must purely be a mistake I should call USCIS 1 800 number back and explain them the situation. I called them and the rep said she will open a case service request on my behalf and I should call them back in a month. But said I should hear back in a week.

I am also thinking of sending a certified mail with all details to NSC just in case.
