EAD Renewal - Thoughts / experiences appreciated

I am currently awaiting my adjustment of status (I-485) which we filed through a marriage based petition in Jan 04.

We had our interview in August (Newark) and were told that my case was pending a CIA check.

My concern now is that my current EAD is set to expire Apr. 11 of this year. My lawyer (who is useless) failed to advise me to apply for my EAD renewal early enough (90 days prior to expiration)

So I finally filed for my EAD renewal on Feb 17 (online) and went into the Application Support Center (ASC) for my picture / fingerprint. I also sent in all supporting docs via next day courier. My case status online says that my I-765 renewal was received on Feb 17th.

What has peoples experience been in getting their EAD renewal before the current one expires?

Secondly, I have my receipt confirmation which I printed online, but never received it in the regular mail.

I called the BCIS help line today - surprisingly they were very polite. The guy informed me that all my info has been received. He also mentioned that as of March 18th they were processing all EAD's received on or before Jan 31st - so I should expect to hear from them this week or next. Is this feasible to accept?

Your thoughts / exprience with similar issues would be greatly appreciated.

In my experience, EAD renewal happens pretty fast and I won't be surprised if you get yours much before your current one expires..
I too had applied for a renewal of EAD (my I485 is pending too) last year and learnt there is such a thing as applying "too soon"!! My earlier EAD was from Feb 2004 to Feb 2005; in my enthusiasm, I applied in October for a renewal and got it in the first week of November!!! So that means my new EAD is valid from Nov 2004 to Nov 2005, an overlap of 4 months with my old one....so effectively, I"d have to apply sooner for my the 3rd renewal this year if my Green Card approval doesn't come by then...

I had thought of applying online too but was discouraged by stories of lost reciepts etc from others..

Hello,

Could you tell me if EAD looks anything like Social Security Card? I don't think so because both documents are issued by different government agencies. Someone just asked me such this question and I wasn't sure how to answer. Do you know maybe a link to a website that would show a sample of EAD?

Hi there,

I am waiting for adjustment of status I-485 too, I also filed through a marriage based petition on Jan 04, and interviewed on Auguest (Newark) and told my case was pending CIA check. I almost thought we have the same case.

Do you know why the CIA check is pending so long, while I heard a lot of other people have CIA check within 30 days.

We have written to the USCIA three times, they just respond with no information.

Do you know whether there is anything we can do to speed up the process? Some web site says that people can get green card processed while CIA check is pending, do you know whether it is true?

I think I have same case: CA
My current EAD is expiring on June 16th 05, with pending I485 (Adjustment of Status). My renewal was filed on May12th to Texas service center by my lawyer. Resaon we filed to this center is because last month I have filed my wifes renewal to local SFO office but was sent back asking to file to TX service center for this type of cases. So lawyer said yours should go there too. But yesterday my application was sent back saying to file to Chicago office.
OK problem is now I don't have enough time. So my lawyer said we will file on both places, SFO and Chicago. He also called SFO office and verified with them and they said yes this should be filed here locally and should be approved within 2weeks.

My question is if any one has same type of situation and does it effect the employment if EAD doesn't arrive before expiration of old one. Can I be able to continue my employment based on Notice Of Action, if I get it within 10 days.

EAD renew

Hi,
I am in dependent visa (L2) and in a process of I-94 extension. Form my husband office they applied I-94 extension for us. My husband already got extension and mine is in process. But I got the receipt notice. I have EAD card which expired few days before.
*Now with my I-94 receipt number (EAC number) can I apply for EAD card
renewal?

EAD and I-94 extension on L2-Visa

Hi,

I have also the same question. My wife is on L2-Visa and she has valid EAD also. Her L2-visa, I-94 and EAD all are valid till 01/17/2006. My company has applied for her I-94 extension. But they are not processing her EAD extension
because of company policy of extending I-94 only and not EAD.



I have heard that both I-94 and EAD extension could take more than 3 months and I have just 4 months left otherwise her EAD would become
invalid. I have to apply for her EAD extension separately. Can I apply for her EAD extension at this moment on the basis of new petition number for her new I-94 extension and without getting her new I-94 extended date? Is there any other way to get her EAD extended during her I-94 extension-processing period?



This is very urgent for me. Please help otherwise she could loose her job.
