EAD renewal......please tell me the truth

Greetings

Please can someone tell me about EAD renewal. I am the spouse of an L1 visa holder. I have been told different facts and I am confused.
I have an offer of a new job but my EAD expired. Here is my timeline......

L1 and L2 visas expired August 31st 2011. Renewals applied for on August 15th by premium processing.
L1 renewal approved October 6th after RFE.
L2 receipt notice dated September 9th. No L2 renewal yet.

EAD expired with L2 on August 31st 2011.

AOS to green card filed, receipt notice dated October 19th 2011.

So here I am with L2 renewal pending and no EAD and have a job offer. I know I cannot work without EAD.

My question is......can I apply and get EAD with just I539 form (L2 receipt) ? Or do I need to wait for L2 renewal before I can apply?

Please, I do hope someone can set me straight as I do not know what is correct.

You first need L2 approved and then you apply for EAD. Once that is approved, you can work.

If your I-485 is already filed, you can apply for EAD based on that also.
