I have been waiting for my gc for 5 years. i recently had a baby and went home over the thanksgiving holiday to see my family. I didn't realize my AP was expired. I pleaded with the border and they told me to fax a letter explaining what happened. When I followed up today they said that the decision was up to the National Service Center, that they could say yes, let her in, no, don't let her in, or yes,let her in so she can get her stuff. I would be less freaked out if I didn't have my infant son to worry about about with no insurance and winter approaching but at least he is with me.
Has anyone had any luck with the national service center being compassionate? It really was an honest mistake. I have been seriously stressed out since the birth of my son and felt like if I didn't see my family I would go bananas.
