AOS EAD and Student EAD

Hi,

My wife is on F1 visa and has an EAD through her school and is currently working. I am applying for our AOS. Her school EAD is due for renewal in May 2012, so her school will be starting the process now (Feb 2012).

Can I still apply for her EAD along with our AOS process? Will that be even required?

What is this school EAD that you are talking about? Is it OPT? Is the renewal based on 17 month STEM extension?
In any case, she can file for EAD and AP when she files for AOS. The advantage is that she will not have to maintain F1 status and work in field of study. The disadvantage is that her status will be dependent on yours.

Thanks! Yeah. I meant OPT based EAD. And this extension will be the 17 months STEM. So, it won't hurt to apply for the extension and new EAD with AOS simultaneously?

It will not matter. Just having EAD does not change one's status.
