  • Questions on preferred Vendor

    Hi ,
I am stuck in a situation and would like some advice from you.

I am a citizen of USA and I work for a company A as a permanent employee. I wanted to shift companies . I got thru a consulting Company B for a client Company C.
After all the interviews are done, just before giving the offer letter, I was told that Company B is the preferred vendor for Company A and Company B cannot give me an offer letter directly.
So they are offering to give me the offer letter thru Company B's Sister Company and asking me to open a company on my on name to go corp to corp.

    1. Is it okay to take up this offer?
    2. Currently being a permanent employee, I can claim unemployment benefits. will I be able to claim unemployement, If I have a S-corp (my own company)

    Thanks
    Rako

You're a US citizen, you can work for whomever you want, including yourself. Why are you asking here?

As an S-corp owner, in most states you can claim unemployment, but to the extent you pay yourself a salary (with withholding for FUTA/SUI)

Talk to your state agency that controls unemployment benefits for the details
